Exterior Shutters - Fixed, Non Functional, Yet Classically Up To Date
Most people, when they think of exterior window shutters, they think of the typically ‘classic’ French style Louvre, with small brightly coloured slats, and traditionally fashioned in wood. But today, this is far from the only choice available, although still highly popular. Today, due to the huge variety of designs, colours and effects on offer, Exterior Shutters ( buiten Luiken) can give any style of property a fabulous new look, whether it be modern or traditional. Exterior, operational, shutters can be fitted horizontally or vertically, and can be opened and closed when required.. Fixed functional shutters cannot be opened, although both they and fully functional shutters do allow air flow, whilst still be able to offer some privacy. Both will also keep back the rain and filter sunlight, although functional shutters, obviously, provide more control. For storm and hurricane protection, shutters manufactured from fibreglass, aluminium and iron are most suitable. However, not everyone chooses to have Exterior Shutters ( buiten Luiken) because they want protection.
Exterior Shutters( buitne Luiken) look stylish, they can add that ultimate final touch to your home.. Fixed, non functional shutters, without doubt, can enhance a property, of just about any style. Many people just love the look of them, and, why not? Okay, some people are looking for privacy, need extra protection from bad whether, or maybe, need to be able to control sunlight. This is what is important to them. But for others? They just want to give their home that certain something, the ultimate touch, one that will make the whole look of their home complete. For those who are looking for a quick and impressive change, Exterior Shutters ( buiten Luiken) can be a great solution. For those who are looking for that traditional ‘French’ look, wooden shutters are often the preferred choice. However, today, you will find a huge range of synthetic, aluminium and iron shutters, beautifully styled and indeed, for many, an excellent alternative to wood. Synthetic shutters need less maintenance, and, often, more durable than wooden Exterior Shutters ( buiten Luiken) . In most cases, certainly more economical.
There are particular hardwoods, like Teak, Mahogany and Cedar, which are preferable to soft woods. However, soft woods, for instance, like pine, are readily available and much more economical. Hard wood is much more resilient to moisture, therefore, less vulnerable to problems with rot, or any other kind of decay. Hardwood also tends to be higher in Tannin, than soft wood, therefore, less prone to insect infestation.. Cedar is a particularly durable hardwood, many consider it to be the best option for Exterior Shutters ( buiten Luiken) , primarily, it’s extremely tough, and needs very little maintenance. It is also extremely high in Tannin, but it is for all these reasons, why Cedar is used for a wide range of garden furniture. Whatever non functional Exterior Shutters ( buitenm Luiken) might be fabricated from, synthetic or vinyl, installation is easy. Simply a matter of screwing or bolting them to the wall of your property. Fibreglass shutters are highly favoured by those who live in hurricane or storm prone regions. But they are also a good choice for non functional, fixed shutters. Fibreglass is extremely resilient to distortion and rotting, as is Cedar. Like the wood, it is also an extremely stable material. But ultimately? No matter the material, they always look great!

Functional Grammar $158 Every grammar has to a greater or lesser extent a functional aspect. In this book, Bondarko provides a comprehensive discourse on the theoretical foundations of grammar, concentrating on functional-semantic fields, with emphasis on the diversity of their structural types. Criteria for distinguishing between linguistically structured meaning and non-linguistic cognitive content is developed in a discussion on the Category of Aspect and its Environment which includes an analysis of aspectual opposition according to the Prague School. Special attention is also paid to analysing polycentric fields and, specifically, taxis in the Russian language. The book is divided into three sections: Functional Grammar: Subject Matter and Goals Structural Types of Functional-Semantic Fields Categorial Situations. This book is intended for those interested in the general theory of linguistics. |

Phytochemical functional foods $265 Phytochemicals are non-nutritive components that provide plants with colour, flavour and toxicity to pests. There is now a growing body of research, which also suggests they may also help to reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as cancer, osteoporosis and heart disease. Edited by two leading experts, this collection provides an authoritative review of the range of phytochemicals. The first part of the book considers individual groups of phytochemicals such as phenolic compounds and their health benefits. Other parts of the book discuss how functional benefits are tested, and ways of producing phytochemical functional products. |

The Functional Fold (Hardcover) $404.49 Amyloid fibrils are known for their association with many devastating human diseases, but non-pathogenic amyloid with surprisingly useful roles have been recently identified in a wide range of organisms in nature. This is the first book that provides the latest and most comprehensive information on functional amyloid in a single volume. Chapters cover the importance of amyloid fibrils in fungi, bacteria, algae, invertebrate and vertebrate animals, for providing environmental protection, structural integrity and regulating biochemical processes. The exploitation of functional amyloid as a strong, nanostructured biomaterial is included, as well as consequences of their study for the treatment of amyloid-related diseases. Functional amyloid is challenging the previous belief that amyloid is exclusively considered to be a toxic structure associated with protein misfolding and misassembly. This book therefore provides an exciting perspective for the study of amyloid deposits as important and useful protein structures widespread in nature. The book The Functional Fold: Amyloid Structures in Nature, is a comprehensive review by contributing authors of this diverse area of functional, physiological amyloid structures. The intended audience is academics, postgraduate and postdoctoral researchers in biochemistry, biotechnology, biophysics, botany, zoology, cell biology, molecular biology, and readers from the general public interested in fundamental processes within the life sciences. The book can ideally be a textbook for the study of protein structure and function. |

The Structure of the Lexicon in Functional Grammar $173 The papers collected in this volume concern five different aspects of the role of the lexicon in the theory of Functional Grammar such as developed by Simon C. Dik and his co-workers. The volume starts off with an eminently practical section on the Functional-Lexematic Model, a lexicological and lexicographical system which has largely been inspired by Dik’s principle of stepwise lexical decomposition. In addition to a theoretical introduction to the model, applications to English, German and Spanish are presented. The second part of the volume deals with the derivation of action-nouns, pseudo-reflexive verbs and causative constructions, thus offering new perspectives on predicate formation within Functional Grammar. This is followed by a section that centres around an important problem related to valency which up to now has had almost no attention within Functional Grammar: the question of how to account for the collocational properties of predicates. The fourth part of the book discusses (non-prototypical) transitive verbs and their relation to the typology of states of affairs, which leads to proposals of possible adaptations of Dik’s typology. The final section focusses on the relationship between the lexicon and the underlying structure of the clause. Three proposals of varying degrees of radicalism are presented to reconsider this relation. |

Functional Heads (Paperback) $98.33 Ever since Chomsky`s Barriers, functional heads have been the privileged object of research in generative linguistics. But over the last two decades, two rival approaches have developed. The cartographic project, as represented by the collections in this Oxford series, considers evidence for a functional head in one language as evidence for it in universal grammar. On the other hand, minimalist accounts tend to consider structural economy as literally involving as few heads as possible. In the present volume, some of the most influential linguists who have participated in this long-lasting debate offer their recent work in short, self contained case studies. The contributions cover all the main layers of recently studied syntactic structure, including such major areas of empirical research such as grammaticalization and language change, standard and non-standard varieties, interface issues, and morphosyntax. Functional Heads attempts to map aspects of syntactic structure following the cartographic approach, and in doing so demonstrate that the differences between the cartographic approach and the minimalist approach are more apparent than substantial. |

A Functional Grammar of Gooniyandi $240 This volume sets out to provide a comprehensive description of the grammar of Gooniyandi, a non-Pama-Nyungan language of the southern-central Kimberley region of Western Australia. It covers phonetics and phonology, word phrase and clause structure, and the semantics of closed-class grammatical items. The major focus is, however, on meaning: how do Gooniyandi speakers mean with and in their language. To this end, the theoretical framework of systemic functional grammar, particularly as elaborated in Halliday's recent work, is adopted. Certain refinements to the theory are proposed in order to better account for the Gooniyandi evidence. Of obvious importance to those studying Australian aboriginal languages, this work has an importance to a wider audience for its effective presentation of theory justification. |

Functional Hemodynamic Monitoring $229 Hemodynamic monitoring is one of the major diagnostic tools available in the acute care setting to diagnose cardiovascular insufficiency and monitor changes over time in response to interventions. However, the rationale and efficacy of hemodynamic monitoring to affect outcome has come into question. We now have increasing evidence that outcome from critical illness can be improved by focused resuscitation based on existing hemodynamic monitoring, whereas non-specific aggressive resuscitation impairs survival. Thus, this book frames hemodynamic monitoring into a functional perspective wherein hemodynamic variables and physiology interact to derive performance and physiological reserve estimates that themselves drive treatment. This philosophy, as well as the limitations and applications of common and evolving hemodynamic measures and their focused use in the care of critically ill patients are discussed, relevant to one underlying truth: No monitoring device, no matter how simple or sophisticated, will improve patient-centered outcomes useless coupled to a treatment which, itself, improves outcome. |

Functional and Selective Neck Dissection $149.95 In the book the authors differentiate between conceptual approaches and surgical techniques. The former constitute keystones in the evolution of scientific knowledge. The latter only imply technical variations of the new approach. Functional neck dissection must be included within the first group since it reflects a new original approach to the problem of lymph node metastases in head and neck cancer. Selective neck dissections belong to the second group since they share with the new concept the same rationale and indications, and constitute only technical variations designed to fit the operation to the patient on a more individualized basis. The idea of the book is to connect both points of view using a historical perspective as a start point, in order to unify the confuse field of non-radical neck dissection. The surgical description constitutes a fundamental part of this publication. A step-by-step description of the operative technique will be included as a main part of the book. |

Functional Fractional Calculus $229 When a new extraordinary and outstanding theory is stated, it has to face criticism and skeptism, because it is beyond the usual concept. The fractional calculus though not new, was not discussed or developed for a long time, particularly for lack of its application to real life problems. It is extraordinary because it does not deal with 'ordinary' differential calculus. It is outstanding because it can now be applied to situations where existing theories fail to give satisfactory results. In this book not only mathematical abstractions are discussed in a lucid manner, with physical mathematical and geometrical explanations, but also several practical applications are given particularly for system identification, description and then efficient controls. The normal physical laws like, transport theory, electrodynamics, equation of motions, elasticity, viscosity, and several others of are based on 'ordinary' calculus. In this book these physical laws are generalized in fractional calculus contexts; taking, heterogeneity effect in transport background, the space having traps or islands, irregular distribution of charges, non-ideal spring with mass connected to a pointless-mass ball, material behaving with viscous as well as elastic properties, system relaxation with and without memory, physics of random delay in computer network; and several others; mapping the reality of nature closely. The concept of fractional and complex order differentiation and integration are elaborated mathematically, physically and geometrically with examples. The practical utility of local fractional differentiation for enhancing the character of singularity at phase transition or characterizing the irregularity measure of response function is deliberated. Practical results of viscoelastic experiments, fractional order controls experiments, design of fractional controller and practical circuit synthesis for fractional order elements are elaborated in this book. The book also maps theory of classical integer order differential equations to fractional calculus contexts, and deals in details with conflicting and demanding initialization issues, required in classical techniques. The book presents a modern approach to solve the 'solvable' system of fractional and other differential equations, linear, non-linear; without perturbation or transformations, but by applying physical principle of action-and-opposite-reaction, giving 'approximately exact' series solutions. Historically, Sir Isaac Newton and Gottfried Wihelm Leibniz independently discovered calculus in the middle of the 17th century. In recognition to this remarkable discovery, J.von Neumann remarked, "...the calculus was the first achievement of modern mathematics and it is difficult to overestimate its importance. I think it defines more equivocally than anything else the inception of modern mathematical analysis which is logical development, still constitute the greatest techn |
